Return to Who We Are
|
Hi! Let me introduce myself. My name is Christine Soligo. I'd like to tell you about myself and my work. I love my partnership with Laura and the work we do in The Art of Sacred Living. This work has deep resonance and meaning for me, and has its roots in my work as a psychotherapist. I have been working with individuals and couples, as well as facilitating groups, in my offices in Peterborough and Millbrook for the past five years. People come to me for help with many kinds of issues: - enhancing self-esteem - problematic relationships - depression - identifying and pursuing goals - anxiety - childhood abuse - issues of mid-life - bereavement These are examples of some of the reasons an individual might call me. My goal is to serve as witness and guide through the mass of confused feelings that attend these issues to a space of clarity, creativity, and a deepened sense of meaning and purpose in life. I am respectful of the courage it takes to begin psychotherapeutic explorations, and sensitive to the feelings of souls in crises. My training in Holistic Experiential Psychotherapy enables me to help clients explore aspects of themselves that have been numbed or repressed. In a safe environment, feelings can be explored and discovered to be rich with previously unknown potential and creativity. My recognition of the interconnections between body, mind, and spirit helps me assist clients in creating fulfilling lives rich with meaning and deepened relationships. When appropriate, I can work with clients to develop ceremonies to honour significant events or transitions. I have been active in the area of personal development and self-awareness for the past 25 years. I was among the first to train with Dr. Jim McNamara, of Toronto, in Holistic Experiential Psychotherapy, a model of psychotherapy that facilitates deep change and transformative growth. I also earned a Bachelor of Independent Studies Degree from the University of Waterloo, and did individual course work at The Alfred Adler Institute of Psychology. I continue my professional development at The Psychocultural Institute in Toronto. I also trained as a massage therapist, giving me solid grounding in matters of the body. And six years of intensive training and practice in Kundalini Yoga and meditation contribute to my work with spirit and spirituality. One of the ways I attend to my responsibility as a global citizen is by serving on the Board of Directors for the Kawartha World Issues Centre, and I am active in environmental issues affecting the Millbrook-Cavan community. For two years I was a regular columnist for The Millbrook Times, and I currently write a monthly column for The Green Hills Gazette. In another area of this web site you can read a regularly changing article or essay by either myself or Laura. If you have any questions, I invite you to call me at (705) 745-3138 or click here to send me an e-mail.
